Youngest British Sri-Lankan Tamil Deputy Mayor

Tamils are proud and honored to have Councilor Rohan Yoganathan as the youngest British Sri-Lankan Tamil Deputy Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames for 2008/2009.
His inauguration was on the 7th May 2008, it was a special day for his wife and him self as it was also their 3rd wedding anniversary. He was an active member at Tiffin School and he has represented both the school and the Royal Borough in the London Youth games 1996. He also has a keen interest in the sciences which inspired him to further his education in Engineering. He completed a degree in Computer Systems and Electronics Beng (Hons) at King's College London. He is currently working in the Asset Management Arena within Local Government.
His father was a former Mayor during 2005/2006 and he is looking forward to following the family tradition of empowering local organizations and charities during his term. His wife Claire will be supporting him as Deputy Mayoress during the year and he looks forward to encouraging the great work done by the people of Royal Kingston and his father as the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames 2005/2006.
He is eternally grateful to his parents for all the opportunities in life they have given him and he is very proud of his father Councilor Yogan Yoganathan. He has lived in Berrylands all his time in Kingston and he is very honoured to have been elected as Councilor for Berrylands Ward in 2006. He has lived in Kingston for the last 28 years. As an ex-student of Tiffin School, he is proud and honored to be the youngest British Sri-Lankan Tamil Deputy Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames for 2008/2009.

Young people are the future and he believes in empowering and encouraging them to believe in themselves. He says ''getting involved in the democratic process is very important to initiate change for a better future for us all''.
